Novel approach for measurement of restitution coefficient by magnetic particle tracking

Inter particular contacts between particles are of great interest, as the intensity and quantity impact behavior a wide variety industrial processes. The coefficient restitution is commonly used to describe collision particle either with other or walls components plant equipment. considers amount energy that dissipated in event. Usually examined by use high speed cameras image velocimetry. In this study new method based on magnetic tracking (MPT) was developed measure particles. By performing simultaneous velocimetry MPT measurements, novel approach validated. comparison shows coincidence results from both measurement methods, for normal direction impacts well oblique surfaces. Furthermore, rotation investigated (by rolling down tilted plate), which has also shown applicability method.
